Krisanne, I'm also disappointed in the overall turnout...as well as how the board wound up being more of the same.

But mad props to you for going the distance, and for getting so many people involved. I know it was an exhausting process, but I hope you'll consider running again next time around.

We could use a voice like yours on the Board.

Thank YOU for seeing an opportunity and taking action. Sometimes it takes an army to invoke change and every army needs leaders...especially those who aren't voted into position, but rather lead naturally from within the ranks of the general membership.

Krisanne,
I want to know how every BOD member votes on each and every motion.

I am very frustrated reading the minutes of meetings and only seeing numbers - so may voted for, so many voted agianst - that tell us nothing about the people and the motives behind the vote.

It seems all-too-simple to include in the minutes:
Motion: Blah, Blah, Blah
Voting for: AA, BB, CC
Voting Against: XX, YY, ZZ

I want to know how each and every committee member votes on each and every proposal...and who made the proposal in the first place.
Committee Report
Proposal: Blah, Blah, Blah
Submitted by: AA
Voting for: AA, BB, CC
Voting Against: XX, YY, ZZ

I mean, how hard could that be?

~Specifics Bob...

From what I know of you, you would make a refreshing addition to the organization.

That being said, you are painting with some pretty broad strokes in regard to the changes you contend our governing body needs to undergo.

I'm not by any means disagreeing with you, but in what 'specific' areas of the current leadership's direction do you find troubling?

What would you do to change that direction?

Gimme something to hang my hat on as far as your 'platform'.

What do YOU see, from the 'weekend jumper's' point of view, as the most pressing issues the organization needs to address..or should I say, address in a different way?

How would YOU approach those issues?

Let's face it, the USPA is an organization that if not now in trouble, is certainly headed that way...and yes, the USPA 'IS' us.

IMHO the greatest challenge facing 'us' is the continued growth of our the membership.

The problem is, pursuing that goal encompasses with few exceptions, every issue the board deals with day to day.

So let's prioritize, and address those issues most pressing with a new / fresh outlook and 'battle plan'.

Yes, the organization needs to be brought into the 21st century utilizing the tools at hand.

Electronic voting is a must, but how about taking that a step or two farther...electronically mass marketing the sport / organization.

sLyride has shown that it can be done, 'we' should be doing
something that markets our sport to the general public in an 'honorable' and efficient way...there is a % of that pool of 'thrill ride' customers that if properly targeted would become solid additions to the sport, and we NEED everyone we can get...we need more student retention.

What 'more' can be done to increase instructor retention, while at the same time maintaining or improving the 'quality' of instruction and 'quantity' student advancement?

The economy is free-falling, successful organizations are, as you well know, downsizing and streamlining...in what areas (if any) of the day to day business can the USPA be made to work more efficiently?

The basis for having the organization in the first place is the collective voice the federal government can't ignore.

Yes it also serves it members by organizing and standardizing the sport in general, but without new / more money and people to grow the organization, and I mean SOON...

~Things like who should be an S&TA could be of little consequence.

Tell me through YOUR eyes, where we are as an organization, where we're headed, where we SHOULD be headed...and how we gonna get there?

You are well traveled, smart, motivated and possibly a little naive in the ways things are being done 'on that level'... exactly what we need to promote positive change.

I for one wouldn't mind seeing another woman 'with some balls' at the table!

But then, I'm not just one of those 'crusty old' status quo farts. . . I just play one on the Internet.

Good to see you in the race. I think that the BOD should be a cross section of the membership, so the fact that you've been jump'n 4 years is a plus in my book!

Not that I know you well at all Krisanne, but from what I do know, you're honest, and caring. You have my vote, and I know you'll be a fresh voice!

Thank you for your service to our organization (in advance)!

I think this is wonderful! In the past I didn't vote in the elections, I figured it was really important for the 100000+ jumpers and the people who had 15+ years in the sport who really know and understand how and what goes into running this sport. During the past 3 seasons I spent time reading and getting familiar with the USPA board and what it does for 'Us" as fun-jumpers and realize that USPA isin't just a membership. It's a relationship. One that eveyone has to work on and with to be successful.

Best of luck in your venture and you are an inspiration to new comers!
